Scrapbook Embellishments Are A Bonus Feature Of This Double Pocket Card.
Scrapbook embellishments or card? This project covers both and I've designed it as a card for a friend who loves to scrap and will soon have another subject for her scrapping after the birth of her next baby.
I used the basic idea of a Double Pocket card from Splitcoast Stampers, but had some trouble with the dimensions in the tutorial fitting onto an A5 card base. So I made up my own dimensions and added the folded Designer Series Paper onto some Barely Banana Card Stock from Stampin Up.
I stamped the cute Teddy and Giraffe in Chocolate Chip, then used a blender pen to add dimesnion to the toys. The additional bear and the giraffe are removable and can be used to embellish a scrapbook page, as can the tag which has been left blank for the recipient to fill in details of her baby.
The Designer Series Paper is called Spring Showers and it is currently available on the
Retired List
for a very tempting 50% discount. It also comes in pink tones (called Spring Flowers) which would substitute nicely for baby cards for little girls. I've always loved these packs of DSP, so have to admit to buying a few for future use in my scrapbook pages and card making. You can order your supplies of these very versatile packs of paper for just $5.97 plus postage by using this

I've used two Stampin Up stamp sets - the first with the animals and announcement notice is called Bundle of Joy. Unfortunately this is on the retired list this year (2009), but has already sold out, so you'll need to substitute other motifs if you don't already own the set. The other set is called Small Sayings.
I really like the idea of giving some embellishments that are ready to use in scrapping and have plans for lots more topics.
Here are a couple more examples that might inspire you.
I love the colours used in this card - so bright and happy! They are all from the Stampin Up range and include White, Turquoise, Teal and Pixie Pink.
You're also getting a sneak peek at one of the new stamp sets from the new 2009 -2010 Idea Book and Catalogue. The glasses are from a cute set named "Cheers to You"and it, along with loads of other gorgeous new sets will be available from April 1st, 2009.
I've used the scallop circle punch, some faux stitching, a flower from the Stampin Up Pretties Kit and a Rhinestone brad to add both texture and interest to the removable embellishments.
The detail photo shows you the two sides of the DS Paper - I find using these papers as a base for cards makes the decision of which co-ordinating colours to use very easy. Just pick out some of the colours in the paper pattern and everything will gel beautifully.
This next card is "one for the boys". Making and designing masculine cards is one of the things I find most difficult. However I found using the "Bronco" stamp set from Stampin Up, was a great basis for the theme of the card. Again this will be a birthday card and it will probably have a gift voucher tucked into one of the pockets.
The two tags are removable and can either be used again in other cards or on a scrapbook page.
I coloured the "Genuine" badge in with Blender Pens and classic ink. Embellishments are brads from the Hodge Podge Kit, Twill Tape and Jumbo eyelet - all from Stampin Up.
I've retained a rustic feel to this "Scrapbook card" by distressing the top edge of the paper, and applying faux stitching along the top and right hand side. This was done with the Matt Pack and Paper Piercer, and a white gel pen.
I have a few more of these cards on the go - they are really lots of fun to make and I can see using elements from a Stampin Up Simply Scrappin' Kit would allow you to complete them very quickly.
