Last day of July - where is the year going?
I've just been updating my blog and thought those of you who have a blog, might like a copy of this copyright information.
Stampin' Up! requires that you state that all images displayed on the web are copyright to them.
You should state that the artwork is by you, if the idea or layout is CASED - acknowledge the original designer.
Here are some logos from the SU web site - I can never remember where to find them, so I have made a TEXT EDIT page on my desktop. Just copy and paste them.

I'm really pleased to advise you all that we have another new team member. Kylie Maher from far (way too far) North Queensland has joined our elite little group of stampers via Karin. She is Karin's first recruit, so Congratulations Kaz, and Welcome Kylie. I've had the pleasure of stamping with Kylie a couple of times on previous visits to Townsville, and I'm sure we'll catch up again at the end of August when Stuart and I drive (eek - I can't stamp in the car!) up there to visit with baby Tyler, Kari and Mark. I'll be away for a while, but will continue to update the website and blog with projects that will possibly have a tropical feel.
Melissa, Chantal and Shelley have shamed me into trying out the colour challenge for this month. So here is my entry. When I first saw this image from the new Mini Catalogue I knew I would be using it a lot. It was my first purchase during the Demonstrator pre-purchase period. Check out the
Rubber Stamping Techniques Section
under Water Colouring Techniques, to see other examples of this beautiful stamp set, and to find basic instructions on how to water-colour with Markers.

I mentioned in the last post that I'd received a few pictures from Shelley. I love them all, but being a new Grannie, I can't go past this fabulous idea using the Wild About You stamp set. Shelley has used brayering for the background sky sunset, then layered stamps over the top. Beautiful!
Things are a bit quiet for me on the demonstration horizon right now, so I've decided to host a Mini Catalogue Launch next Thursday August 7th at 7.30 - 9.30 pm. My house is the venue, and I have some great lucky door prizes.
You are all most welcome to drop by - come for the whole event or just pop in for a short while.
You may like to get some ideas on having your own Launch, as this is a very effective way of gaining bookings for the next few months, showcasing the new stamp sets and products like the really yummie Silver Hodge Podge Hardware and promoting another technique.
The new Mini also gives you a good reason to contact past hostesses. New products create excitement for all of us who are "Stamping Tragics", and it is a time saving way of getting your message across to lots of people.
Next time I post will be August, so here is the Colour Challenge for August.
We will go with the IN COLOUR RANGE this month so let's see what you can do....
COLOURS = Groovy Guava, Sky Blue, Blue Bayou and Whisper White.
THEME: Father's Day

I had a lovely surprise via the email today with 6 cards from Shelley. Just showing me what she has been doing this week. The cards are fabulous Shelley - thanks so much for showing me.
One of them is her entry for the July challenge. That makes 3 so far this month, and means that the participation rate is growing all the time. Well done ladies.
I want to encourage those of you who have not yet submitted your cards, to get them in before the end of the month, so that you too will have the chance to win some SU product. Also it is fun to participate and share ideas. We can all learn from each other. Here is Shelley's entry for the July colour challenge.

I know it seems crazy, but Christmas is coming and if you are thinking of providing your customers with some Christmas card workshops it is time to start planning and advertising them.
I have done these for the last 2 years and found them a great way to promote SU Christmas stamp sets, and papers. Also it helped me to decide what design I would use for my own cards for the year.
The other event I would like to start promoting is World Card Making Day. Last year I help my first chaotic WCMDay in aid of Breast Cancer Research. It was a fun day and we raised over $700.00 for Breast Cancer. I will host another day this year, and hope it will be a little less chaotic. Please feel free to join me, and if we need to have more than one day because of numbers - well that is great. We can use the building out at Hume again if we want - but I am thinking that I will limit the numbers, and perhaps do a "stamp a stack" day. Any suggestions are welcome. WCMD is usually the first Sunday in October, but I nearly always have a National Coaches Comittee Meeting that weekend so I would do another day.
Let me know what you think.

Hi everyone and it's good to be back after a couple of weeks traveling. First there was a lovely 4 day holiday to Melbourne which I won courtesy of the Accor hotel chain. Very nice - Stuart and I enjoyed being pampered and took the opportunity to catch up with family and friends down there.
A couple of days back home then I flew off to Perth for the Calisthenic National Championships. I really enjoyed them this year - great not to have the stress of a daughter being the state team coach for the first time in 5 years. I did a bit of Official duty by timing at the Senior team comps, but all in all it was fun.
Wednesday I hosted an Opportunity Night for interested potential recruits. It was terrific to have the support of Chantal and Melissa and lovely to have 3 interested ladies in attendance. I am pleased to report that Jenni signed all the forms today so we should have at least one more team member by the end of this week.
I know lots of us had workshops this weekend - I hope they were successful for you. I enjoyed both of mine and although sales were not particularly good, I felt that some good networking was achieved. Today's workshop turned more into a craft day with a couple of friends, and included morning tea, lunch and arvo tea. Well done Jenni - beautiful Minestone soup and delectable home made Gnocchi. You can join my team any day.
Apart from eating we had a really good day exchanging ideas, learning techniques and just having fun.
I am pleased to display the first 2 July Colour Challenge entries. The first one is from Chantal.

And here is Melissa's entry.

Thanks for sharing your ideas girls, the entries are terrific and I am sure the rest of us will gain some ideas from them.
How about the rest of you? - I know you are all creative, and participating in the challenges not only gives you the chance of winning some Stampin Up products, it gives you some lovely samples to show at your workshops.

I am feeling really excited about an idea I just had. I received some information on the Canberra Craft Fair in the mail, and wondered about exhibiting there next year. I phoned Stampin Up to see what their policy was and everything seemed good from that end, so I phoned the craft fair organizer and she wanted me to go this year!!! "Too soon" I said - anyway I think this may be a fantastic thing for us to do as a group in 2009, as it will expose us to thousands of craft mad shoppers.
I would like each of you to think if you want to participate.
Here are a few details.
Craft fair runs for 4 days - we could have a roster
2 x 3 mtre stand costs $2,220.00 for the 4 days - eek! Share the cost.
We can provide classes to off set the cost (most this year are $50.00 plus cost of a kit)
We would need to plan and prepare for a few weeks in advance - some of my thoughts are
to provide card kits, with tutorials,
have lots of hand stamped cards for sale,
make up embellishments for scrappers
make magnets from SU products and maybe have kits for make-it yourself
also scrap pages, off the page projects- like bags and boxes etc.
I would love your feedback.
This is something I think we can do really well as a group. There is so much talent amongst us that we can wow them all. We might as well get some remuneration for all the hard work. Can you imagine charging $50.00 for a regular class? That should cover the cost of the stall pretty well.
Put your thinking caps on and come up with some great class topics- some in scrapbooking, some card making, perhaps even some journals.
Now I will come down to earth a little - please let me know your interest (not binding at this stage) and we can start discussing it at our first real team meeting.
Did I say TEAM MEETING? Yes now that we are growing in numbers I think it is important to meet to offer support and exchange ideas. Naturally I would like everyone to be able to attend, so I need to know what days/evenings you are available- say.... once every 2 months. I am pretty flexible, but I know most of you have family/work commitments that you need to consider. Please email me with your preferences (give me 2 options if possible) Thanks

Hi everyone,
I have had a couple of very exciting days with Shelley and Frances who are both busy preparing for their first workshops. I am sure all you "old hands" will join me in wishing them well for their first events.
Stampin Up's July Promotion is a terrific time for us to grow our little team at "distINKtive stamping designs". That extra saving of $25.00 from the Starter Kit price means that the potential recruits are saving approximately 47% on the products and supplies.
It is probably a good idea to sit down now and make a list of customers who have expressed an interest in what you are doing, customers who have a long and organized Wish List, and customers who show particular aptitude at creativity. Point out the different types of demorstratorships and remind them that if they sign up in July they have until December to make their first $500.00 minimum.
You might ask why they have so long to achieve the minimum - it is because Stampin Up goes on Full Quarters: July is the start of a new quarter, so any new recruits who sign up in July August or September, get that time "free". Their first full quarter does not start until October.
June Challenge
Our winner for this colour challenge is Chantal. Here is her beautiful card -
It is not quite floral, but she has done a wonderful job of using the colours and making the focal point of the card stand out. What's more - it is another example of those elusive cards for men. Thanks for the entry Chantal- perhaps some more of you will find time to participate this month. Chantal will receive a block of the Palette o Prints double sided designer series papers as her "prize".
July Colour Challenge - Chocolate Chip, Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla.
The subject matter for the card is "open" - you can choose anything.
I have also been having fun organizing some links for my website, and in the SBI search I have found a site in Singapore and one in the USA that are very happy to link with me. I am "meeting" some really nice people through creating this site, using the SBI system, so if any of you are interested to create your own website - have a look at SBI - you can find out information by clicking any of the SBI links at the bottom of each of my web pages. if you know and understand html - you will go really well. I didn't know any of that and have just been using the basic SBI format, but as I learn from them I will improve the look and content, and hopefully soon start making money from the site.
Hope you all have a terrific month in sales and recruiting - remember if you need any help or advice - just give me a call.
