distINKtive designs team members forum and information page for August 2008
Hi everyone, sorry it has been a while since I last posted. Don't quite know where the end of last month went - it just disappeared!
A bit of housekeeping - first the Winner of last months challenge. The entries were all so good that I decided to do a random draw. I love the way that everyone interprets things so differently . Draw ....... drum roll... the Winner is
Melissa
Congratulations Melissa - your prize is a pack of Earth Elements brads. I'll pop them into the post tomorrow.
Next bit of news is the upcoming event World Card Making Day
I would encourage each of you to hold some sort of event even if it is just getting a few friends together for a Stamp a Stack. This will give friends and customers something to look forward to, and hopefully will grow a little each year for you, leading to increases in sales and more exposure to the general community.
I will be hosting 2 events this year.
One on Monday 6th October. 9.30 am - 3.30.pm. This one will be a Stamp-A-Stack of Christmas cards. 20 cards (5 each of 4 designs). Cost $25.00.
Participants will need to bring their own adhesive and paper scissors.
The second event will be another Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research. Date: Sunday 12th October at 25 Sheppard Street, Hume. 10.00am - 4.00pm. Sausage sizzle for lunch. Tea Coffee and biscuits on tap. There will be some raffles, challenges and random prizes for lucky door entry numbers.
Cost $20.00. If you can make it with lots of friends, please do.
I want to raise more than the $700.00 we raised last year, so if any of you have some great ideas, I am all ears.
I am going to Townsville for 3 weeks. Leaving this Friday, and yes we are driving. I can't wait to see Kaz, Mark and Tyler so the trip up there will seem very slow.
Now I have another technique for you to try. I am loving this technique, but then I've always loved watercolour painting.
It is the wet watercolour technique and as the name suggests, uses a little more water than the regular technique that uses the Markers and Aqua Painters.
Here is an example - by the way I love this stamp set.

The technique can be done in a couple of ways.
Stamp your image in Stazon onto watercolour paper.
Use the Markers and Aqua Painters to colour the image.
Spritz the image with a light mist of water and let the colour run. Don't fuss about it going out of the lines. This is what is meant to happen.
You can also use the Aqua Painter to add water just outside the image. the colour will run onto the wet areas of paper. Here is a detail of how it should look.
Notice how you still leave white areas on the image.

I will add these images to a page on Wet Watercolour Technique, plus I have a couple of other cards to show the general public.
Did you notice the Rub On greeting on the bottom of the card. I'm still not sure that I really like these, but I bought a few sheets so I might as well use them, and I do think this greeting works quite well with this image.
Now finally a great big WELCOME to our newest team members,
Jenni recruited by me: Kylie recruited by Karin, and Belinda recruited by Chantal.
Congratulations ladies and welcome to the group. We are all here to help you achieve what you want out of Stampin Up, so please feel free to ask any questions or use any information posted on this web sit.
Congratulations must also go to Chantal and Shelley who have achieved Senior Associate status. Well done girls - you are powering along.
I have 2 Christmas Card Classes this week - will try to get time to post the projects before I leave on Friday. If not Karin and I will be doing some stamping while I am visiting Townsville, and hopefully Kylie will join us. I'll be showing them the projects so I can post from Kari's computer up there.
