World Card Making Day 2009 - Additional Cards, Products and Techniques

Our function for the World Card Making Day was so much fun, and we completed lots of projects. The final four can be found below.

This is such a quick little card to make, and it makes good use of the "pink" theme of the day. Products used include Fun and Fast Notes stamp set, DSP (2 different patterns) Regal Rose and Whisper White card stock, Scallop Edge Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Heart to Heart Punch, 3.5 cm Circle Punch, Water-colour Paper, Pink Passion and Taken With Teal Stampin' Write Markers, and an Aqua Painter.

The flower from the stamped image is cut out separately and raised up on a dimensional to create a little textural interest.

The bird image is stamped with Stazon Jet Black Ink onto the water-colour paper and the colour is applied with markers and then blended with the Aqua Painter.

I really love this butterfly image. It comes from a Stampin Up stamp set that I was given on my recent visit to the USA.

Again, this is a simple layout using Designer Series Papers that co-ordinate beautifully. Some ribbon hides the join between the two papers that are matted onto Whisper White card. It has been distressed with the Distressing Tool from the Stampin Up Cutter Kit.

I've coloured the butterfly image using an Aqua Painter and picking up the ink from the lid of a Classic Ink Pad that was squeezed together to form a pool of colour on the lid.

To me World Card Making Day should offer participants a variety of projects and styles, so I thought I'd include a Retro Fresh style card. These colours are wonderful and suit this stamp set - Trendy Trees very well. I had a couple of packs of these Long Notes left from a previous catalogue, and the colour suited so I used them.

All the World Card Making Day participants had the chance to try out the Stampamajig and enjoyed the change in style from most of the other cards.

The eighth project from my World Card Making Day used the gorgeous felt flowers from Flower Fusion Too pack, and some of the Baja Breeze Corduroy Buttons. (You'll find them in the Spring Mini Catalogue)

To show how quickly cards can be made, we used Love Notes and made up two small cards, packed them onto some DSP with the envelopes tucked in the back and tied the bundle with 2.5 cm Double Stitched Ribbon - Chocolate Chip. A White Gel Pen was used for the faux stitching and the greeting was embossed in white.

It was a full day of stamping, winning prizes and fund raising for this worthy cause. The auction with funny money at the end of the day was great fun.
